Sponsored skydive is windfall for charity

Amy Clark Kennedy, 36, a land agent with Bell Ingram in Ayr, undertook the 13,000ft drop at Beccles in Suffolk to successfully smash her target of £600 and raise a whopping total of £2,330 with an additional £345 from gift aid to support Crohns and Colitis UK.

Despite being the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which affect more than 300,000 people across the UK, Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis are still largely hidden diseases. Amy’s chosen charity works to improve the lives of those living with the conditions – which includes Amy herself.

Amy said: “I raised money for Crohns and Colitis UK as I suffer with Ulcerative Colitis. It’s a chronic, ‘invisible’ disease which needs higher public awareness and understanding.

“I wanted to do something a little crazy, and I thought throwing myself out of a plane might just be the perfect way to attract attention to the cause.

“Fingers crossed my tandem skydive has gone some way towards achieving this goal, in addition to having raised a fantastic amount of money for research and support for others not as lucky as myself.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that supported me.”
