Steady demand at Markethill

The 47 dairy stock at Markethill on Tuesday, April 19, sold in a steady demand with good quality lots selling readily. Calved heifers to £1,200 each for a Glenanne farmer. A Stewartstown farmer received £1,130 and £1,100 for calved heifers. Banbridge farmer £1,180. Markethill farmer £1,130. In-calf heifers to £950 each.

Cull cows: The 150 cull cows maintained a strong demand. Beef-bred cows from £115 to £140 for 762k at £1065 and up to £1125 for 934k. Fleshed friesians from £100 to £112 for 796k at £890. Second quality friesians from £85 to £95 per 100 kilos and the poorest types in excellent demand from £60 to £75 per 100 kilos. Aged bulls to £119 for 1070k at £1275.
