Suffolks sell to £640 and £630

A packed ringside at Lisahally saw Cookstown breeder Robin McAdoo take champion with his Ballynacanon Attitude sired ram.

McAdoo also went on to take the red rosette in the shearling ram class selling for £525 with Campbell and Jason Watson taking second with a son of a Burnview Gin and Tonic bred ram selling for £577. Gary McAdoo claimed third with the top price of the evening of £640.

Campbell and Jason Watson went on to take the Reserve Champion title with their Birness Murray bred son while also sharing in the steady trade with their second prize paired lambs.

Also taking the leading prices were Garvagh Breeders Elizabeth and James Gould with their fourth prize lamb selling for £609.

The sale at Rathfriland proved a successful event for Jean and Ivan Porter who sold their Champion Bannview J Rea son for £546, before selling their fourth and fifth lambs for £493 and £420 respectively.

The Castlewellan breeders also had success when their group of lambs took the winning rosettes with the Grant Brothers, Newry, Co. Down, taking second in both the shearling and ram lamb classes.

Cookstown breeders Keith and Gordon McAdoo topped the sale with their Reserve Champion shearling ram a son of Knockadoo Rocket selling for £630.

Other leading prices at Rathfriland also included John Murnion’s fourth prize shearling selling to £367, Sean Burns £367. Tyrone Linden’s third prize lamb selling to £420 and £367, James McCann £420, Monica and Henry Flynn £388, Jack and Alfie Moses £388, B&C Dickson £367, Anthony Patton selling three lambs to £336, Kevin Rogan £336, William Montgomery £336.

Ivan Porter sponsored the Rathfriland sale.
