14 additional Covid-19 related deaths in last 24 hours - 441 new infections detected too

The Department of Health (DoH) has recorded an additional 14 Covid-19 related deaths in Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours.

It takes the DoH Covid-19 death-toll to 1,099.

The 14 deaths occurred in the following local government districts (LGDs): Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (one); Antrim and Newtownabbey (one); Causeway, Coast and Glens (one); Lisburn and Castlereagh (three); Mid Ulster (three); Derry City and Strabane (one); Mid and East Antrim (two); Newry, Mourne and Down (one) and Fermanagh (one).

Ten of the deaths occurred in a hospital setting; three in residential/care homes and one in the community.

Five of the 14 deceased were aged between 60 and 79 and the remaining nine individuals were 80 years-old or more.

Eight of the individuals to sadly pass away were male and six were female.

The DoH also recorded an additional 441 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours.

It’s a slight decrease on the data published yesterday but when compared with the figure for seven days ago, it reveals that the number of people to test positive for Covid-19 in the seven days up to December 3, 2020 has increased by almost 400 when compared with the number of infections in the seven days leading up to December 10.

It means the total number of Covid-19 infections detected in Northern Ireland since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 56,719.
