Singer raises funds for air ambulance

Tyrone singer Malachi Cush has raised over £10,000 for the Air Ambulance NI Charity and the NHS. With an original target of £2000, Malachi quickly surpassed that in the opening days of his virtual fundraiser with the release of his song and music video entitled ‘Nothing Seems Right’.

Just over a year ago, Donaghmore man Malachi and hardware shop owner Andrew Trotter were loading a garden strimmer into the singer’s car when an unattended car rolled down Scotch Street, Dungannon and careered into his vehicle causing a range of serious injuries for both men.

Andrew received injuries to his head, shoulder and elbow whilst Malachi’s leg was dragged under the car causing his knee and knee capsule to become dislocated from his leg. Local paramedic crews and the Air Ambulance NI HEMS team were immediately tasked and transferred the pair to hospital.

One year on, both are still recovering from their injuries. Malachi has spent over four weeks in hospital and had several operations, continuing rehabilitation on his leg. Malachi concluded his fundraising campaign with a live Facebook music session, which pleased his fans both home and abroad, and gave even more prominence to the work of all health care professionals especially during Covid-19.

The former Fame Academy star donated £6,000 to the Air Ambulance NI Charity and £4,000 to the rehabilitation unit in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.

Malachi said: “I’m absolutely blown away and humbled by the generosity of so many.”
