Two pipe bombs have been discovered in two different parts of Londonderry.
The bombs were both declared to be viable, and were discovered in Trafalgar Court and Jeffrey Avenue on the eastern side of the city.
The first alert was announced at around 11am, after a device was found in a garden at Trafalgar Court.
Around two hours later, police announced the second alert.
At around 7pm Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan, area commander for the city, said the devices had been taken away for forensic examination and residents could return home.
On Monday, residents of the Currynierin estate on the south-eastern edge of the city were subjected to an alert lasting more than 24 hours, after a device was discovered.
