Another busy and successful season for Dungiven YFC

As well as the winter programme meetings there has been lots of participation and successes in the wide variety of YFCU competitions.

At the Co. Londonderry Floral art heats Zara Fulton was placed third in the 16-18 age group and Louise Conn was placed second in the 18-21 age group.

Club secretary Katie Love was placed second in the over 18 female section at the YFCU Swimming gala and club leader James Purcell was placed second at NI YFCU Soil Assessment Competition.

At the County Public Speaking heats, James Purcell was the winner in the 21-25 age group prepared; Alice Purcell, first in the 21-25 group Impromptu section, Clare Buchanan was first the 25-30 age group prepared section and David Oliver placed second in the 25-30 age group prepared section.

These members qualified to the YFCU NI finals where brother and sister, James Purcell and Alice Purcell brought home the silver ware. They both won their sections. James was placed first in the 21-25 age group prepared section and Alice was placed first in the 21-25 age group impromptu.

Congratulations to all these members on their successes and to all other members who participated in these competitions.

Dungiven YFC were proud once again to be involved with their local community. They had a team supporting Dungiven’s local charity event. They took part in ‘The Great Glenshane Lorry Pull’ in aid of cancer research and the new radiography Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital. Despite the rain a great day was had by all.
