‘Anti-gay’ attack in Belfast

A house has been attacked in what police say may be a homophobic attack.

It happened in the Roden Street area of west Belfast overnight between 9pm on Friday and 2.30am on Saturday.

Police said simply that “damage had been caused to a window of a property in the area”.

SDLP councillor Tim Attwood said this was as a result of paint being thrown at a window.

He also said that indications from local residents are that it was a homophobic attack.

Police are treating it as a hate crime, and asked if it was specifically homophobic, a spokesman confirmed this is the line of inquiry being followed.
