The ‘Band Aid NI’ Christmas recording features DUP leader Arlene Foster and Sinn Fein’s Orlaithi Flynn singing the Mariah Carey hit ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’.

The video was released on Monday morning to raise money for Aspire NI, a Lurgan-based charity that provides free educational support to young people in need in Northern Ireland.

X Factor star Eoghan Quigg and UTV’s Pamela Ballantine are also on song for the charity single, which is presented by David Blevins of Sky News.

Elsewhere in the video country music star Richie Remo, gospel singer Nathan Jess, YouTube sensation Emma Horan, comedian Sean Hegarty, Britain’s Got Talent finalist Jordan O’Keefe and model Sophia Mitchell show off their talents.

Aspire NI founder Mark Knox, who is also a member of comedy boy band Moss Road with Ross McConnell, said: “Arlene Foster appears on the track and even delivers a few lines of the song. Starring and singing alongside her is Sinn Fein MLA Orlaithi Flynn.

“It’s one of very few events this year both parties have taken part in but the issue is an important one and seeing our political leaders together is a glimpse of hope at Christmas of what could be.”

The single is the follow up to last year’s Band Aid NI 2016 single which gained 52,000 views and raised over £2,000.

Although the song itself cannot be purchased, the Christmas jumpers in the video are available to buy to raise funds for Aspire NI.
