Army condemns ‘irresponsible, disrespectful’ use of its flags

The erection of British Army flags by loyalists across parts of Londonderry and Belfast has been deemed “inappropriate, irresponsible and disrespectful”.

The use of the Parachute Regiment flags has been condemned by the Ministry of Defence.

“The improper use of regimental flags, emblems, motiffs is not only contrary to the high standards demanded and promoted within the armed forces, but also inappropriate, irresponsible and disrespectful to the men and women serving with distinction,” read the statement printed in the Irish News.
