The suspect was detained in the greater Belfast area on Wednesday morning, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said. He has been taken to a police station in the city for questioning.

Detective Inspector Stuart Griffin, from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch, said: “The explosion took place in a postal vehicle inside the military complex on 14 August 2015.

“Thankfully, no-one was injured but a number of vehicles were damaged.

“Police inquiries are continuing and I would appeal to anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101.”

Dissident republicans opposed to the peace process have attempted to use the postal service several times to target security force installations and government ministers in Northern Ireland and England.
