Belfast Marathon: Watch thousands of runners hit the city streets

The 2018 Belfast City Marathon saw around 17,000 pounding the streets over the 26.2-mile distance.

The majority of participants set off from Belfast City Hall at 9am in a bid to complete the 37th running of the race.

Kenyan Eric Koech stormed to victory, hitting the tape in a cool 2:18:20.

His compatriot, Caroline Jepchirchir, was first past the post in the women's race in a time of 2:41:17. Last year's winner, Laura Graham, from Kilkeel, produced another superb display to take second in 2:43:34.

The event saw a surge in the number of entries this year with around 3,000 taking on the full distance.

This year also saw an increase of Team Relay participants, with around 2,200 five-person relay teams taking part. Numbers were further boosted by those taking part in the wheelchair race, eight-mile walk and fun run.
