Books of condolence for tragic honeymoon couple John and Lynette Rodgers have opened in Co Down.

The books have opened in the library in Holywood, where 26-year-old Lynette, a physiotherapist, grew up, and in the Arts Centre in Newtownards, for John, who worked for a printing company in Holywood but grew up in Ballygowan.

DUP MLA Gordon Dunne, who knows Lynette’s mother, said “there is an expectation their bodies may be flown home on Saturday”.

He said funeral details had not yet been finalised and post-mortems on the pair have already been carried out in South Africa.

The couple drowned last Friday a short time after arriving at Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape.
