Breakdown of NI coronavirus cases by council area

The Department of Health has revealed that 3,836 people across Northern Ireland have tested positive for coronavirus so far.

The figures, as of Monday morning, showed that 26,488 people so far have been tested, with 22,638 found to be clear. Fourteen people had indeterminate test results.

The latest breakdown of individuals with a confirmed coronavirus test by local government district is as follows:

• In Antrim and Newtownabbey 306 people were found to have the virus out of the 1,994 tested;

• Ards and North Down: 249 out of 2,331;

• Armagh Banbridge and Craigavon: 392 out of 2,952;

• Belfast: 1,182 out of 6,184;

• Causeway Coasts and Glens: 158 out of 1,398;

• Derry City and Strabane: 153 out of 1,602;

• Fermanagh and Omagh: 73 out of 940;

• Lisburn and Castlereagh: 373 out of 2,300;

• Mid and East Antrim: 259 out of 1,633;

• Mid Ulster: 149 out of 1,420;

• Newry Mourne and Down: 231 out of 2,059.

A further 1,675 people were tested who gave insufficient address and postcode details. Of them 311 tested positive.

A total of 4,552 people in Northern Ireland have been admitted to hospital suffering from Covid-19. While 387 people are now known to have died as a result of contracting the virus, a total of 3,442 have recovered well enough to have been discharged from hospital.

At today’s daily media briefing, the First Minister Arlene Foster said ministers from both NI and the Republic met last week, but she confirmed the Stormont Executive was not given advance sight of the Irish strategy on how they plan to ease the lockdown restrictions.

“We didn’t have a comprehensive view as to what was coming in relation to that plan on Friday evening,” Mrs Foster said.
