Glass company has designs on expansion

It’s clearly a boost for Dumurry, as a local glass company announces new jobs.

The Dunmurry-based specialist glass company, Glassmarque Design Ltd, has announced expansion plans including five new jobs, supported by Invest Northern Ireland.

Glassmarque Design is the only company in Ireland to offer a combination of commercial glass and stained glass services in-house, which allows the business to take on projects where both sets of skills are necessary. The new jobs will consist of five skilled craftsmen, to improve the capability of the business to service an increased demand from customers in export markets, specifically Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

Invest NI is providing £39,880 of support through its Jobs Fund and marketing assistance to develop a new website, helping the company to boost sales in Great Britain and the Republic.

Director Susan Calderwood said: “We are delighted to announce the creation of five new jobs. Invest NI’s Jobs Fund support will ensure we are able to recruit the new roles quickly and therefore capitalise on new opportunities immediately. This increase in capacity will help our business grow as we will be able to service new customers in overseas markets.

“Our strategic focus is to develop the heritage sector and to significantly grow sales outside Northern Ireland. With Invest NI’s help we are developing a new website, so we can market ourselves to potential customers outside of Northern Ireland.”

Glassmarque are manufacturers and installers of commercial aluminium, shop fronts, residential aluminium and structural glass, as well as specialists in stained glass commissions and in the restoration, repair and conservation of heritage stained glass.

Their business consequently encompasses everything from maintenance and repair of shop fronts to glass extensions, repairing church windows and crafting bespoke decorative mirrors.
