It’s hardly surprising there’s a distinctive golfing theme to Newcastle’s latest ice cream parlour which opens this week.
‘Lick Gelato’ is featuring a host of ‘Irish Open’ themed treats for golfing fans from near and far.
As well as creating eight new jobs in the town the business, founded by golf enthusiast Simon Welby, will offer varieties such as Rory’s Raspberry pavlova, Ernie’s Eton mess and McDowell’s mint, choc chip.
The parlour is the latest project for the entreprenuer whose family runs Café Crème in the town.
He plans to expand the availability of the Lick Gelato brand to make the new flavours available across Northern Ireland and beyond.
Simon says it’s been hectic getting ready to launch in time for the Irish Open,
“We are delighted to welcome the cream of golf’s global stars to Newcastle, and haven’t given up hope that one or two of them might drop in to sample our wares.
“Rory’s Raspberry Pavlova is already proving popular. The ice-cream has been developed within the last year, with a real concentration on the traditional methods of creating Italian gelato.
