Belfast Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon has called on SMEs in the city to exploit broadband to boost their business.

Speaking at a seminar in the north of the city, she said Belfast was “on the cusp of a digital revolution”.

“It is vital then that council and other stakeholders in the city provide our SMEs with the infrastructure to develop their products and ensure they receive assistance in achieving global success.

“We have awarded over £1m in grant funding to businesses through our Super Connected Belfast scheme with almost 500 businesses benefiting already.”

The seminar highlighted how firms can benefit from the Super Connected Belfast Voucher Scheme as well as the Super Connected Cities Business Growth Initiative.

“It isn’t just the hi-tech and creative industries that are benefiting but the digital infrastructure is providing a major boost to other sectors including manufacturing, professional services, retail and the community and voluntary sectors,” she said.
