Belfast International Airport has awarded a sizable three-year cleaning contract for the terminal building to the Mount Charles Group.
The deal, valued at £500,000, is effective from December 1. It will see the transfer of 30 staff which will bring the total employed by Mount Charles Group at the airport to more than 70.
Mount Charles, which operates catering, cleaning and facilities management services from its Belfast base, says the airport cleaning contract is ‘a significant boost for the business’.
Belfast International Airport MD Graham Keddie, said: “Mount Charles saw off the competition to win this contract. Given the size of the facility, it’s important we have a service provider who understands our customer-focused approach and has the ability to deliver all we want.”
Mount Charles Group MD Cathal Geoghegan, said: “Our relationship with the International Airport goes back to the launch of our ‘Fed & Watered’ café bar in 2011. ‘Fed & Watered’ recently expanded its floorspace and seating area airside in line with impressive passenger growth. The group is also responsible for the Business Lounge.
“It’s a very sizable piece of work, and encompasses not only the cleaning and hygiene requirements of the airport, but also waste management and pest control at the facility.
