Norbrook family lead Sunday Times rich list for province

Lady Ballyedmond and her family which now controls the pharma giant Norbrook founded by the late Eddie Haughey,Lord Ballyedmond are named as the richest people in Northern Ireland according to the 2015 Sunday Times Rich List, to be published this weekend.

The annual special edition of The Sunday Times Magazine reveals the wealth of the 1,000 richest people in Britain and with it details of the fortunes of people born in Northern Ireland and those who have made the bulk of their wealth here.

Lady Ballyedmond and family head the Northern Ireland Rich List with a fortune of £1.4bn.

Lady Mary is now deputy chairman of the Newry-based international group since her husband’s death in March last year.

Their sons James and Edward are also directors of the company valued at £1bn and the Ballyedmond family own it all. The family’s extensive property, art and land holdings add a further £400m to their fortune.

Born in Londonderry and now based in Malibu, California, Roma Downey and husband Mark Burnett are one of television’s power couples and are valued at £375m, while closer to home, brothers Paul and Jeremy Eakin are named as third richest family £310m running the TG Eakin medical supplies business founded by their father Tom.
