Strike action is being taken at 11 Belfast City Council leisure centres in a dispute over pensions and staffing concerns.
Staff are taking work-to-rule action and there is a ban on overtime at the Andersonstown, Whiterock, Falls Road, Olympia, Ballysillan, Avoneill, Grove Well-being, Loughside, Ozone, Belvoir and Shankill Road facilities.
A ballot by union Unite saw 97% of members vote to take action against Greenwich Leisure Ltd over what they claim is a failure to deliver on pension guarantees.
In a statement, People Before Profit’s West Belfast MLA Gerry Carroll said he is 100% behind the staff taking industrial action.
“Support your local leisure centre workers on May 24th. Tell your local councillors loud and clear that we want our leisure centres back under public control.”
