All victims of sexual abuse deserve justice regardless of who the perpetrators were, Gregory Campbell has said.
The East Londonderry MP was commenting after the Home Secretary’s decision not to include the Kincora scandal in the Westminster-led abuse inquiry.
Mr Campbell said: “This week we have had two separate issues raised relating to sexual abuse and in both cases the victims are equally deserving of justice.
“Whether it is the abuse carried out by republicans or the horrors of the Kincora Boys’ Home, there appears to be determined efforts to conceal the truth about what happened.”
He said victims had shown “incredible courage” in coming forward, and added: “There should be proper inquiries into both of these cases.
“A cross-border inquiry is necessary to ensure that republican sexual abuse is properly dealt with, regardless of which side of the border they may have occurred.”
