Controlled explosion after alert close to homes of bandsmen

A controlled explosion was carried out on a number of items last night following a security alert in north Belfast.

The Crumlin Road was closed for several hours and a number of homes were evacuated as Army Technical Officers were tasked to the scene.

Police said nothing untoward was found.

The alert happened close to the homes of several members of the Young Conway Volunteers band, who had received a death threat earlier this week.
