Police are investigating after a number of cars were set alight in a housing estate in Antrim on Wednesday night (February 19).

One car was set alight in Tiree Street and two on Mull Road in the Springfarm estate in the town.

Local Alliance Councillor Neil Kelly condemned those responsible for the incidents.

He said the attacks “will cause serious disruption to the owners of these cars”.

“I hope the police will be able to catch those who carried out this attack, so I would urge anybody with any information to contact the PSNI or Crimestoppers,” he added.

A spokesman from the NI Fire and Rescue Service said fire officers from Antrim station attended two separate fires involving vehicles - the first around midnight and the second involving two cars around 5am.

Police are working to establish a motive and anyone with information should contact local police on 101.
