Armed men raid Belfast house

Men armed with a knife and bar attacked a householder before making off with cash.

The PSNI said that the incident happened in Cooke Street, which stands in the nationalist lower Ormeau area, at about 9.05pm on Thursday.

Two or three men entered, armed with a knife and a metal pole, and stole money and medication.

The occupant, a 47-year-old man, was injured but declined hospital treatment.

Detective Sergeant Neil Maxwell said: “One of the men is described as being aged between 30 and 35, about 5ft 8in tall, of medium build and with a shaved head.

“Another is described as being approximately 6ft tall and of muscular build.”
