Two men armed with knives made off with a sum of cash from a shop in Belfast city centre on Saturday.

The armed robbery happened around 4.35pm at commercial premises in the Montgomery Street area.

The men, who had scarves over their faces, made off with cash in the direction of May Street.

Appealing for information Detective Chief Inspector Gary Reid said: “This occurred two weekends before Christmas at a busy time, therefore I would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact CID at Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101. “Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
