Armed robbery in west Belfast

The police have called for witnesses to step forward after a balaclava-clad gunman robbed a man in his 70s.

It happened on Saturday morning at around 10.30am, in the Westrock Gardens area of west Belfast.

The victim – who was uninjured – was described as a door-to-door agent of a credit company, but police would not elaborate further.

The man with the gun made off with a sum of money.

As well as the balaclava, he had a black leather jacket, and is described as being about 5’6” tall, of slim build and with a Belfast accent.
