Arrest made in attempted murder case

Detectives investigating an attempted murder in Belfast on Thursday have arrested a 29 year old man.

The victim of the serious assault at around 9.30pm on Donegall Quay, close to the Big Fish, was stabbed in the neck.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition was described as critical

“The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an article with blade or point in a public place,” said Detective Sergeant Will Arnott.

“He is currently assisting with police enquiries.

“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist our investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101, quoting reference number 2243 25/06/20.

Police say the area was quite busy at the time of the incident and have urged people to come forward.
