The PSNI are probing an arson attack on a shop in the middle of Larne.

The blaze happened in the early hours of this morning, after the shutters of the shop were forced open.

The interior was damaged, and flats above the shop had to be evacuated following the incident, which unfolded at about 3.45am.

The location of the shop was given as Main Street.

The shop in question is understood to be Northern Lights, a hydroponics outlet, which stands on nearby Dunluce Street.

Detective Inspector Peter Mullan appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the attack or who noticed any suspicious activity to contact organised crime detectives at Larne Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.
