A woman was allegedly subjected to sexual assault during a lesbian encounter in Belfast.

Prosecutors told the High Court on Friday she was picked up on the street in a drunken state in 2010 by a man and a woman who offered to take her to a party. Maitana Pereira, a Portuguese woman, was returned to Northern Ireland last month to face criminal proceedings after being detained on a European arrest warrant. Pereira, 27, with a past address at Orkney Street, Belfast, was denied bail charged with sexual assault.

The court heard the alleged victim agreed to get in the car. The trio went to a house where it is alleged the man touched the woman while she and Pereira engaged in consensual acts. Pereira says she was unaware of the man’s actions.
