Belfast neighbourhood closed off after man found injured

A north Belfast street has been closed after a man in his 50s was found with critical injuries.

The incident in Brae Hill Park, off the upper Crumlin Road, is believed to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Kenneth Leckey said in a statement: “Police received a report of an altercation in the street at around 2am, and when officers arrived at the scene discovered a man with head and leg injuries.

“First aid was administered by officers until the arrival of an ambulance which took the casualty to a nearby hospital.

“A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and a car has been taken away for forensic examination.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances that has led to this very serious incident and I would appeal to anyone with any information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact CID at Musgrave on 101. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
