The shooting in the leg of a man in his 50s in Carrickfergus has been condemned as “despicable”.
UUP MLA Roy Beggs was speaking after Friday night’s incident in the Castlemara estate. Police said the man was out walking close to Castlemara Shops around 7.30pm when he was approached by three masked males. He was shot in the leg and taken to hospital for treatment for a single gunshot wound to his calf. His attackers made off on foot.
Mr Beggs said it was “deeply regrettable” that a gun had been “brought on to our streets” and urged people to help the police.
