Cash and cigarettes stolen in East Belfast armed robbery

Two armed robbers climbed over the counter of an east Belfast shop before making off with a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

The armed robbery happened at the store on the Albertbridge Road on May 9 around 9.45pm.

A PSNI spokesman said one of the men was armed with a claw hammer.

There were no reports of any injuries and the two robbers made off on foot in the direction of Glenmore Street.

Detective Sergeant Neil Maxwell has appealed to anyone who was in the area and noticed any suspicious activity to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
