Caution urged after claim ‘explosive device’ left in Dungiven area

Police are advising people living in or travelling through the Feeney area near Dungiven in Co Londonderry to be vigilant following claims that an explosive device has been left in the area.

Police are currently in the Feeny area following a report that an explosive device has been left in the vicinity.

An anonymous telephone call was made to police last evening (Tuesday 24 November).

Superintendent John Magill said: “At this time we are focussing on the Carnanbane Road and Banagher Road areas, however no object has been found at this time.

“I would ask local people to be vigilant. If you see any suspicious objects please do not touch them, instead inform police straight away by dialling 999.”
