A Co Antrim man is to stand trial next month accused of possessing a cellphone stun gun.

Stephen John Tumilty, 35, of Craigs Road, Carrickfergus, appeared in the dock of Belfast Crown Court on Friday for an arraignment hearing.

He pleaded not guilty to a total of 15 drug offences, including possession of cocaine, cannabis and herbal cannabis with intent to supply.

Tumilty also denied possessing “without the authority of the Secretary of State, a weapon, namely a cellphone stun gun, which was designed or adapted for the discharge of electricity or any noxious liquid or gas’’ in contravention of the Firearms Order.

All the offences were alleged to have been committed in Belfast on April 9, 2013.

Belfast Recorder Judge David McFarland set February 16 as the trial date for the case which he said is expected to be heard at Downpatrick Crown Court.

The case will be reviewed on February 11.
