A security alert in Windsor Drive in south Belfast was the result of a hoax, police said.

The Army had been summoned to the scene of the alert during the morning, after a report of a suspicious object.

A controlled explosion was carried out and the object has since been declared to be a hoax.

By early afternoon, Inspector Barry Black said: “All roads have reopened and any evacuated residents are now able to return to their homes.”
