Crowds of youths were throwing stones at windows say police

Crowds of young people, some dropped off by parents, gathered behind a church in north Belfast last night before abusing residents and throwing stones.

Police say over 100 youths gathered behind St Gerards Church on the Antrim Road.

“A small number of this crowd then abused the local residents as well as throwing stones at the windows,” said the PSNI in a facebook post.

Police had earlier warned against any large gatherings, stating, “Ahead of the weekend we want to remind everyone that while some of the Health Protection Regulations have been relaxed, restrictions on large gatherings remain. The Regulations state no more than 10 people from different households should gather in a public place.”
