Police have appealed for information after a vehicle was hijacked in west Belfast

Police received a report just before 7:20pm that the male driver of a grey-coloured Volkswagen Golf - registration JHZ 5055 - was standing at the boot of his car on Kingsway in Dunmurry when another male approached him, pushed him and then got into his vehicle and drove off.

Detective Sergeant Nugent said: “This was a traumatic ordeal for the victim who was simply going about his business when this occurred.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or who believes they know the whereabouts of the Golf, to get in touch with is. We’re also appealing to drivers who were in the area around this time and who may have captured what happened on their dash cam , or the movements of the Golf after it was taken, to call 101, quoting reference number 1687 of 14/12/20.”
