The PSNI has warned members of the public that taking diazepam without a prescription is dangerous, after boxes of the drug were stolen on Saturday.

It happened at a pharmacy in the Kingsway area of Dunmurry, to the south-west of Belfast, at around 5.10pm when a man – described as slim and 5ft 11in – threatened staff with a knife before fleeing with the medication.

The police said: “Those who take such drugs when they have not been prescribed to them are playing Russian roulette with their lives.”
