The PSNI are hunting thieves who rustled 16 lambs on Saturday.

The theft happened in the Eglish Road area outside Dungannon during the evening.

PSNI Chief Inspector Graham Dodds said in a statement: “The farmer who owned these lambs has informed us that they would not be ready to enter the food chain for the next six weeks and that their meat would be poisonous to humans if eaten.

“I would therefore ask any abattoirs to be aware of this and carry out the proper checks on any lambs that they come into contact with in the next few weeks.”

The PSNI asked anyone with about the incident to contact Dungannon Police Station on 101, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
