Hijacked car burned in north Belfast

A motorist was punched in the face before two men stole his car in Edlingham Street, north Belfast.

The red Mitsubishi Lancer GS2, which was stolen at 11.20pm on Sunday, was found burnt out in the republican-dominated New Lodge district 20 minutes later.

Detective Inspector Mary White would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the hijacking or observed the vehicle being driven between Edlingham Street and Carlisle Road to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
