A murder investigation has been launched by Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team following the death of a man in a flat in the Crebilly Road area of Ballymena.

The area is known locally as Ballykeel One.

A statement from the PSNI reveals that a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

And now a 33-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives investigating the death of a man in a flat in the Crebilly Road, Ballymena.

Both men remain in police custody at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell said: “I would ask anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in the area of Crebilly Road between 12 mid-day on Tuesday, 29 September and 1.00am this morning, Wednesday, 30 September to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 52 30/09/20.

“Alternatively information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”.

Enquiries are understood to be at an early stage - there is no further information at this time.

Local Independent Councillor Rodney Quigley said: “Local people woke up this morning to this news and are really shocked,” he said.

“This is a tragedy.

“We understand the man is not from the area - but he has family somewhere who is grieving right now.

”Ballykeel is a great area to live in - many have lived there for many years and it is very close-knit so that is why news of the death has been so shocking.
