Man arrested after north Belfast baseball bat attack

A 36-year-old man has been beaten with baseball bats during a paramilitary-style attack in Belfast.

He suffered a number of fractures but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The attack happened when seven men forced their way into a house at Forthriver Drive in the north of the city at about 10pm on Thursday.

A 33-year-old man was arrested during the early hours of Friday morning in connection with the assault.

PSNI detective constable Gareth Hussey said: “A suspect was subsequently arrested in the Crumlin Road area at around 2am. He remains in custody at this time assisting us with our inquiries.

“We are keen to hear from anyone with information about this crime.”
