Man arrested after suspected assault leaves three PSNI officers injured
A 27-year-old man has been arrested after three police officers suffered injuries during a routine traffic stop in Omagh last night.
Police on patrol around 9.30pm on the Circular Road stopped a vehicle and spoke to the driver. A check of police records revealed that he was disqualified from driving.
After being arrested he attempted to make off on foot. Police officers pursued him and while attempting to restrain him he allegedly struck out, assaulting multiple officers and damaging a police vehicle.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified, using a motor vehicle without insurance, assault on police, resisting police and disorderly behaviour.
