A 46-year-old man has bene arrested in England as part of an investigation into online blackmail.
Detectives from PSNI Cyber Crime Centre made the arrest in the Northampton area yesterday and brought to Northern Ireland where he is being questioned at a police station in Belfast.
Detective Chief Inspector Douglas Grant, from Serious Crime Branch, said: “Our investigation began after a woman in Northern Ireland made a complaint about online exploitation.
“The investigation resulted in yesterday’s arrest of a suspect for blackmail, harassment and fraud by misrepresentation.
“Our enquiries are continuing.”
The arrest in England yesterday was made by PSNI officers working in conjunction with Northamptonshire Police and East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU).
