A 23-year-old man is expected to appear in Belfast Magistrates court this morning charged with possession of class B drugs with intent to supply, possession of ammunition in suspicious circumstances and encouraging or assisting an offence.
The charges follow a police traffic stop on Ormeau Embankment in Belfast yesterday.
Detective Sergeant Natalie McNally said: “Officers on routine patrol spotted a car being driven on Ormeau Road at around 3.30pm. They subsequently stopped the vehicle on the Embankment and recovered a quantity of herbal cannabis.
“A follow up search at a flat in the Elgin Street area revealed a quantity of ammunition along with a further quantity of cannabis.
“The male driver of the car was charged with a number of offences and will appear in court this morning. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.”
