Police are investigating reports that a shot was fired inside a bar in Londonderry on Saturday.

It happened in the Creggan area of the city at about 6.30pm. No injuries have been reported.

According to reports masked men entered the Telstar bar, looking for a man, and fired in the air.

Chief Inspector Andy Lemon said, “Police investigations into this report are already underway and I appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area around this time or anyone who has information about the incident to contact Detectives at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

SDLP assembly member Pat Ramsey said: “It’s Creggan again, unfortunately - the good image of Creggan has been tarnished. It’s a disgrace.”

Sinn Féin councillor Kevin Campbell said: “They represent no-one - I think that has to be emphasised very strongly.”
