Men arrested after aggravated vehicle taking in Belfast - car burns after crash at nearby playing fields

Three men have been arrested following the report of a vehicle theft in south Belfast last night.

In a statement the PSNI say it was reported that three males approached a man in the street, at around 8pm last night (Monday), as he stood beside his car.

They added that one of the males then jumped into the driver’s seat and sped off stopping a short distance away to allow the other two males to get in.

The statement added that a short time later, at around 8.20pm, the car was located on fire after it had crashed at Purdysburn Road in Newtownbreda.

A police patrol located and arrested three male suspects at the nearby Hydebank Playing Fields.

The men, aged 31,32 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including aggravated vehicle taking and robbery and all remain in custody at this time.
