A PSNI recruitment event cancelled due to a bomb incident at Londonderry’s Waterfoot Hotel will now take place in St Columb’s Park House in the Waterside area of the city.
The two information sessions will be held at 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Saturday. The Waterfoot Hotel was evacuated on Friday – the day before the planned PSNI event – and a viable device was found in the grounds. The hotel owner then informed the police he no longer wanted to host the event due to safety concerns.
Independent councillor Gary Donnelly said the blame for the disruption lay with the PSNI for using a public building, remarks which DUP MP Gregory Campbell branded “disgraceful”.
