A man appeared before a Belfast court on Thursday accused of driving over his girlfriend.
Harold Sinnerton is charged with motoring offences linked to an incident in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.
The 50-year-old faces counts of dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen of breath.
He is also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm to Catherine Dowds.
The alleged offences occurred on a road at Queen’s Park on May 30.
Sinnerton, of Abbots Cross in Newtownabbey, made his first appearance before Belfast Magistrates’ Court to be connected to the charges.
Defence barrister Sean Mullan revealed what his client stands accused of.
He told the court: “The defendant is alleged to have driven over his girlfriend.”
No further details of the incident were disclosed.
Although Sinnerton was released on continuing bail police sought to have him barred from going near the alleged victim.
Granting the request, Deputy District Judge Joe Rice ordered: “He is to have no contact with the injured party in the case.”
