A man in his 70s was left badly shaken on Friday night as four masked men forced their way into his home.

The pensioner, who lives in Dunraven Avenue in East Belfast, was not physically injured and after searching the house it is believed the gang took nothing.

Detectives are appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the area at 10.15pm or has information as to who any or all of the masked males may be.

After forcing entry into the man’s house, two of the males remained with the occupant whilst two searched the house. All four left a short time later and according to a PSNI spokesman “it is not believed that anything was taken”.

Detective Constable Karen Hughes has appealed to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact detectives in Musgrave on 101. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
